    Lyrics

    Back On Dream Street

I took a trip down memory lane, driven by the mind, back to my childhood days
gonna take a slice of a goodtime, when life was sweet as cherry pie

We’ve got James Brown on the radio, as we drive on to the drive in picture show
eating popcorn, throwing candy, while Godzilla trashes Tokyo

There’s nothing in this world like being young

I wanna take a stroll now, back on dream street
cruisin’ down the avenue, groovin’ to a cool beat
hangin’ out with my friends, wish the fun would never end
life was so simple then, back on dream street

When I hear that Motown backbeat, it always seems to take me away
time to tune into the Bandstand, and check out all the latest dance craze

The Mashed Potato and the Boogaloo, a shimmy shimmy coco pop, you know what to do
tv magic made me wonder, will Mr. Clark ever age?

what I wouldn’t give to do it all again

I wanna take a stroll now, back on dream street
cruisin’ down the avenue, groovin’ to a cool beat
hangin’ out with my friends, wish the fun would never end
life was so simple then, back on dream street

I’m not trying to turn back the hands of time, but those were days unlike any other kind
me and my memories will never be apart, how I love the things that keep me young at heart

    Soon

Never saw the time as morning hurried by, but afternoons were like the never-ending sky,
I’d go to my mother to see, when could I fly free, she’d say, “soon my child you’ll see.”

I’ve been counting the moments till soon
I’ve been praying from midnight to noon
I’ll be as high as the man in the moon
when I find what my heart has been beating for
    when I get to soon

The season’s come and go, never slowing down, so I’m scattering the seeds of dreams upon the ground
God only knows when the rain will come, so I rest my soul when the work is done

I’ve been counting the moments till soon
I’ve been praying from midnight to noon
I’ll be as high as the man in the moon
when I find what my heart has been beating for
    when I get to soon

Don’t lose heart while you wait, thinking that all you’ve done’s been in vain
our Father sees everything and soon we’ll reap, if we don’t faint

    Finding Paradise

She’s a wayward girl running wild, a custody case since she was a child
just a little angry, just a little pissed, experts say, it’s the love she missed
at any rate, someone’s gonna pay, too much steam to let off in a day

So down the road and around the bend
under the bridge to find the end
feels like a gamble, a roll of the dice
but she keeps on searching, finding Paradise

It’s a day to day kinda thing, she’s a little bit older, less aware of the sting
just a little calloused, a cynic tried and true, it seems apropos after all she’s been through
she’s wonderin’ does everybody bleed, or do you just pretend and deny the need?

So down the road and around the bend
under the bridge to find the end
feels like a gamble, a roll of the dice
but she keeps on searching, finding Paradise

Where will she go and what will she do,
who will she find to help see her through,
she keeps movin’ on still payin’ the price,
how long will she roam, til she finds her way home,
    my Paradise

    See The Light

I saw my friend just the other day, wearing a smile, walking with a cane,
hadn’t seen him it was longer than I remember

So we grabbed a cup of joe, as he caught me up on life so far,
some major changes happened late September

The mustang ran this superman, into a tree at 4th and Grand
thought he’d bought a ticket to a permanent destination

I saw his face and heard his voice, I saw peace and I heard joy
seems the worst had  brought it’s revelation

Why oh why is it human nature, to run until we hit the wall
a hundred miles an hour, and we’re in little pieces
looking back and wondering what went wrong

We stumble in the dark and see the light
we try to get a spark to see the light
when life has left it’s mark, we see the light
ain’t a walk in the park to see the light
    see the light

I saw this guy on a TV show, looked at my friend and said  “what do you know,
look at what the cat dragged in the house tonight!”

I knew this guy and he took for granted, the gift of love he’d found on this planet,
so the Mrs. left and gave up on the fight

He said, it all just crashed and burned, now he’s counting lessons learned,
it’s no surprise he finally feels the loss

But love will find the meek at heart, and give a second chance to start,
he paid the price so now he counts the cost

Why oh why is it human nature, to run until we hit the wall,
a hundred miles an hour, and we’re in little pieces
looking back and wondering what went wrong

We stumble in the dark and see the light
we try to get a spark to see the light
when life has left it’s mark we see the light
ain’t a walk in the park to (finally) see the light
    see the light

Love Will Always Lead You Home

A lavish buffet before me, no way I had to eat,
I drank from the cup of the tempter and found it bitter sweet,
no delicacy did I ever deny my palette to know,
but all that glitters isn’t gold

You live your life trying to find true happiness,
you could gain the world and lose your very soul,
when you look in your heart and you find that nothing’s left,
remember love will always lead you,
love will always lead you home

I painted the town a red no one had ever seen,
persuaded by fortune and glamour you know I made the scene,
I danced to the tune of the piper and taught him a thing or two,
but then I paid him all he was due

You live your life trying to find true happiness,
you could gain the world and lose your very soul,
when you look in your heart and you find that nothing’s left,
remember love will always lead you,
love will always lead you home

If ever I was to tell a lie,
and say it all was just a dream,
then the truth would stand before me, and demand to have a say,c
cause Someone brought me home and it was nobody other than Love

2 Heads Are Better Than 1

It all began the month of May, ‘twas a guy, a girl, a fateful day,
atoms driven to colliding, surely destiny was guiding them

Soon what grew was frightening, eerie chemistry had spawned a thing,
there were two but now it’s just one, I’m afraid it can’t be undone!

2 heads are better than 1
    when love brings them together
2 heads are better than one
    always and forever

It was quite a pair to see, it could speak with rare telepathy,
one could finish for the other, there could never be another one

It took over everything, like Godzilla on a weekend fling,
a monster made from their love, could it be a plan from above?

2 heads are better than 1
    when love brings them together
2 heads are better than 1
    always and forever

Stand back beware what you do,
a puff of smoke, a flash, and you’re through
    it’s a mystery, this potion
when love is set in motion

    Lyrics: Lang Bliss, Renee Garcia

The Things I Wish I’d Said

Stood in your doorway, hat in my hand,
reached for your doorbell, abandoned my plan
though I rehearsed it, word after word,
the sound of me leaving, was all that was heard

and I see you through the window, and pretend that I forget

The things I wish I’d said, are still inside my head
never letting me forget, all the fear that I regret
oh the things I wish I’d said

I punch in your number, I tremble and shake
I’ll say what I have to, how long can it take?
you’ll probably laugh and say, “don’t be silly”
or more likely say nothing at all

so I stop and say why bother, and I haven’t bothered yet,

The things I wish I’d said, are still inside my head
never letting me forget, all the fear that I regret
Oh, the things I wish I’d said, are still inside my head
never letting me forget, all the fear that I regret
Oh, the things I wish I’d said

    Love and fear are enemies
I’ll choose which side or they’ll choose me
I’ll take this chance and I’ll speak the truth
and pray we’ll make it through

The things I wish I’d said, are still inside my head
never letting me forget, all the fear that I regret
Oh the things I wish I’d said, are still inside my head
but I promise this, that you’ll never find me dead
with the things I wish I’d said

I love you, I need you

    The Best of Times

Lucy begins her day the way she does every other
she hits the alarm and rubs her eyes, her feet hit the floor
she plants a garden, flowers fill her home with their fragrance
she does what she does because she knows it down to the core,
    she says,

Carry a song to sing as if your life depended on it
anything good you want is always worth the fight
remember it’s all in what you call the best of times

So Lucy is teaching both her children what she believes in
lions and castles, numbers, letters, fill little jars
she knows the joy is all in how you choose to perceive it
so she is teaching them to run and lasso the stars,
    she says,

Carry a song to sing as if your life depended on it
anything good you want is always worth the fight
remember it’s all in what you call the best of times

Just so you know she ain’t no Pollyana
she’s known her share of pain in this life,
trouble and strife, walls she had to climb over,
but she figures her time’s  too short, living the life sublime,
these are the best of times

    Freedom Fighter

Heard the news today, you went MIA
another story of, a casualty of love

I have the seen the fear on your face before
    the shade as you withdrew

    Listen now, hear my vow,
    there’s nothin’ I won’t do

I am the one who fights, fights for your freedom
I am the one who fights, to see you whole,
    gonna help heal your soul,
    I’m your Freedom Fighter, baby
    I’m your Freedom Fighter, baby

A skirmish in your heart, from a buried poison dart
it was lying dormant there, till a phantom brought a scare

then you hid inside of your dungeon dark,
    hidden out of sight

    Listen now, hear my vow,
    I’m gonna shine some light

I am the one who fights, fights for your freedom
I am the one who fights, to see you whole,
    gonna help heal your soul,
    I’m your Freedom Fighter, baby
    I’m your Freedom Fighter, baby

There’s a field that’s strewn with the shells of men,
    the hopeless and the proud,
well it’s do or die, gotta break through the lie,
got a victory in sight, so we fight
    till we see heaven’s light

    Tomorrow’s Here

She said tomorrow “I’m gonna build me a home
I’ll dig the dirt and then I’ll lay the stones”,
she said tomorrow I’m gonna build me a home
    cause I won’t be alone.”

She said tomorrow “I’m gonna find me a man
I’ll be the best that anyone could want
yeah tomorrow, I’m gonna find me a man
    cause I’ve got big plans.”

I’ll get a life and then I’ll have it all
but I guess I’ll have to wait ’til fall

Now, now is the time to see
all that she longs to be
    tomorrow’s here
and now, now is the perfect time
don’t let it pass you by
    tomorrow’s here

He said “Tomorrow, I’m gonna find me a way
to show the wife and kids how much I care,
yeah, tomorrow I’m gonna make me a way
    cause they’ve gotta stay.”

I’ll please the wife, I’ll do that father thing
but I guess I’ll have to wait ’til spring

Now, now is the time to see
all that he longs to be
    tomorrow’s here
and now, now is the perfect time
don’t let it pass you by
    tomorrow’s here

I have come to find that in this life
time is rarely on my side
no waiting for some open door to realize
    tomorrow’s here

Now, now is the time to see
all that we long to be
    tomorrow’s here
And now, now is the perfect time
dont’ let it pass you by
    tomorrow’s here

She said “Tomorrow, I’m gonna build me a home.”
